Three new multiplayer maps are on their way to Halo 3 in Bungie Studios’ newly announced Heroic Map Pack. Scheduled to land on the virtual store shelves of the Xbox Live Marketplace on December 11th, the Heroic Map Pack will include the Standoff, Rat’s Nest and Foundry maps for a cost of 800 MS Points (all three will be customizable in Forge too). If you’d rather save your MS Points for something else and are willing to wait a while, the three maps will be released completely free of charge in spring 2008, right in time for Bungie’s next Halo 3 map pack. Standoff’s symmetrical valley, with its entrenched bases and fields of boulders is ideal for mid-sized objective and Slayer game types, while Rat’s Nest’s vast, labyrinthine passages bring something new to the “Halo” multiplayer experience: an indoor vehicle paradise, strongly influenced by the Campaign mode, ideal for big team battles. Finally, Foundry is the ultimate Forge map – players can edit every single object in this voluminous industrial warehouse, place stairways, walls, bridges and tunnels to create an entirely new play space and build almost any kind of map they can think of.

is there going to be a map pack in stores like halo 2
As of now they haven’t announced any plans to release a disc-based version of the map pack. Maybe once the second map pack comes out in the spring they’ll put out a retail disc compiling all the maps. It’d be smart, but I kinda doubt it’ll happen. Along the same lines, I’d love for Msoft to put out regular disc compilations of XBLA games too.
Much like the game itself…the maps are worthless and a waste of money. I found myself only playing them once before uttering the words “can’t believe we paid for those” (at the gaming center, I still don’t have a 360 personally).
Instead, might I suggest people saving those points for when Schizoid comes out. It’ll be FAR more worthwhile.
For Halo 3 freaks, I’m sure it’ll be worth it…but I just didn’t see anything neat or especially cool about them.
I need the heroic pack on disk badly because i cant get onto xbox live for some reason i only got on it once and the IP address fails everytime!
Ya if ti was free then more people would play halo 3. Some people cant get xbox live. For me my mom and dad are divorce and i live in the middle of know Where
