Crackdown Receives Massive Downloadable Content Update

CrackdownFor someone like me who thought Crackdown was far too shallow and light on lasting appeal, Microsoft Game Studios and Realtime Worlds’ newly released downloadable content should give it the boost in replay value it so desperately needed. Today’s downloadable content comes in two packages: the completely free “Free-For-All” Bonus Pack and the premium “Gettin’ Busy” Bonus Pack for 800 MS Points.

As a free download to all Crackdown owners, the “Free-For-All” pack includes new features like a Cheat Mode, vehicle impounding to allow players to store their favorite rides in the Agency Garage, co-op trophy sequences, and “Psychotic” difficulty Time Trials. The real meat of today’s Crackdown update comes in the “Gettin’ Busy” pack though. For the 800 MS Points it costs, you’ll get three new vehicles, street racing tournaments, four new weapons, a stealthy new cloaking device, seven new achievements and 350 additional gamerscore points to earn, and four new competitive game modes, including Max-Agility Rooftop Races, Stockpile, Checkpoint Chase and Rocket Tag. Anyone on the fence about whether the 800 MS Points will be worth it can actually demo the content out for one play session with another player who has purchased and unlocked the new material.

If all that wasn’t enough, a free game patch has also been released for Crackdown today, introducing things such as an enhanced camera, improvements to the targeting system, increased audio range on orbs that makes it easier to locate them for the last 50% of hidden orbs and 20% of agility orbs, and many other fixes and tweaks.
