A Huge Seal Has Attacked Steam With Free Coupons and Games

HugeSeal

Frozenbyte, the Finnish game development shop behind the Trine and Shadowgrounds series, has united with 27 fellow independent developers to host a build-your-own indie game sale known as the Huge Seal.

The Huge Seal is a monster, but it’s not here to destroy cities or eat all of the world’s kittens. This monster is a nice monster, giving away free coupons toward more than 30 indie games on Steam. If you use enough coupons, the Huge Seal will even reward you with free games.

Here’s how it works: Go to www.hugeseal.com, log in with your Steam account and then claim 5 coupons from the provided selection. For every coupon you use to buy a game on Steam between November 18th and November 24th, you will receive another coupon, and for every three games you buy with coupons, you will receive a free game key outright. (Note that as of press time access to the Huge Seal site seems to be running slow. I didn’t have any trouble getting through earlier today, but it’s been taking a long time to load the past few times I’ve attempted to click in.)

In my case, I used coupons to buy Shadowgrounds, EDGE, and RUSH, and wound up receiving a free key for La-Mulana. Apparently the free game is awarded at random, but I guess I totally lucked out because La-Mulana is exactly the game I most wanted from the list (though I do already own more than half the available games so that probably increased the odds in my favor). All together, I got those four games for just over $4–and I still have like six more coupons to use if I want to. Quick math says I saved around $30 compared to buying those four games for full price. Now that’s a pretty sweet deal!
