Remedy Entertainment’s Xbox 360 thriller Alan Wake has been one of the most enigmatic games of this console generation, first announced back at E3 2005 prior to the Xbox 360’s launch before seemingly turning into vaporware until making a strong comeback showing at last year’s E3.

Now, after years of waiting, Alan Wake is finally ready for release. At its X10 event today, Microsoft announced that the game is scheduled to ship on May 18th in North America and May 21st in Europe. Pictured above is the game’s newly-revealed collector’s edition, which will come with a soundtrack CD, a bonus disc loaded with behind-the-scenes footage and other video content, and “The Alan Wake Files” book, all housed inside a hardcover book case. Additionally, select retailers are now accepting pre-orders, and for reserving a copy of the game you get the Bright Falls Bonus Pack containing an Xbox Live theme, avatar gear and a “making of” video.
