Arkham Origins Blackgate Returns Batman to His Arkham Asylum Roots

The first trailer for Blackgate, the 3DS and Vita companion/continuation game to the PC and console Batman: Arkham Origins, is in, showing a setup that appears to be more in line with the original Arkham Asylum than Arkham City, which makes sense for a portable game and is A-OK by me since I prefer the more focused and confined non-linear game world of Asylum to the open-world City to begin with.

With Blackgate Prison now in control of Gotham’s most infamous villains, the Dark Knight must break in and quell the prisoner rebellion. Watching the trailer will give you a taste of the game’s slick comic-style story sequences and 2.5D gameplay which seems to have all the core Arkham mechanics down pat, from the gadgets to the predatory stealth to the free-flow combat.

Yup, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate is looking solid indeed. Watch for it on your portable gaming system of choice this October 25th, right alongside the regular Arkham Origins launch on PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U.
