An Assassin’s Creed III spinoff is coming exclusively to PlayStation Vita on October 30th, day and date with the main PC and home console game. Subtitled Liberation, the Vita game is a true open-world Assassin’s Creed experience starring a brand new female assassin, Aveline.
Liberation takes place in 18th-century New Orleans during the Spanish Empire’s conquest of Louisiana. Aveline, of French and African heritage, will lead the fight for freedom using new weapons, such as a duel pistols, a machete, and a blowgun with poison darts.
Vita-specific features, including the touchscreen, rear touch pad, gyroscope and cameras, will be put to use for certain combat actions, character interaction and traversal, and there will even be a unique form of multiplayer.
Sony and Ubisoft are so excited for this game, they’re pairing it with the Vita for a special hardware bundle and also connecting it with the PS3 so gamers who buy Assassin’s Creed III with Liberation will unlock additional in-game bonus content.
