Namco Bandai’s Project Soul team is no stranger to working out cross-over deals to bring iconic characters from other franchises and mediums over to the SoulCalibur universe as guest cameo fighters. Some have made sense, like Link in GameCube version of Soulcalibur II and Kratos in the PSP exclusive SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny. Others haven’t, namely the Star Wars trio of Darth Vader, Yoda and The Apprentice in SoulCalibur IV.
But Namco has come back strong for SoulCalibur V, announcing this week that Assassin’s Creed‘s master assassin, Ezio Auditore, will be the game’s guest fighter when it ships January 31, 2012. Armed with his Roman Longsword, Stiletto, Crossbow, Hidden Gun and Hidden Blade, Ezio will do battle against SoulCalibur‘s finest warriors on PS3 and Xbox 360 both. No exclusive cameos here. (At least none that we know of yet.)
What do you think of Namco Bandai’s alliance with Ubisoft and Assassin’s Creed? Does Ezio get a thumbs up, SoulCalibur fans?
