Set to launch July 14th for Season Pass owners, and July 21st sold separately for $6.99, Batman: Arkham Knight‘s first post-release story DLC, Batgirl: A Matter of Family, has the Caped Crusader’s female counterpart teaming up with Robin to rescue Commissioner Gordon, who has been taken hostage by The Joker at Seagate Amusement Park.
Despite being DLC for Arkham Knight, A Matter of Family actually takes place before Batman: Arkham Asylum, the very first game in the series. It was also developed by WB Games Montréal, not Rocksteady Studios. Make of that what you will.
Hopefully I’m wrong, but I’m sort of getting the feeling that the allure of playable Batgirl combined with the return of The Joker is being used to mask what will ultimately turn out to be typical style-over-substance DLC fluff. Or maybe my general dislike for DLC is blinding my objectivity. I won’t lie and tell you that the new A Matter of Family trailer doesn’t get me hyped to want to play it. (Though I still don’t even have the full game yet any way.)
