Batman: Arkham Origins Shows How Video Game TV Spots Should be Done

Video game TV trailers typically bombard the broadcast airwaves with a lot of flash and sizzle in order to capture the viewers’ attention in a short window of time. The new TV spot for Batman: Arkham Origins does exactly the opposite, quickly chronicling Bruce Wayne’s journey from troubled youth to the crime-fighting vigilante known as the Dark Knight through a series of aging face shots. It’s a subtle but emotionally effective trailer that conveys the humanity behind Batman’s persona, one of the traits that has made the Caped Crusader such a popular and relatable super hero. (That’s why he’s my favorite super hero, because he isn’t some indestructible mutant with special powers.) Plain and simple, this trailer puts my desire to play the game at its highest level, which is perfect since Batman: Arkham Origins launches on Friday. I’m psyched!
