Batman: Arkham Origins — Villains, Gadgets, Crime Scenes & Vita Screens

Warner Bros. swooped into E3 this week with the first gameplay trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins. Highlights include a showcase of the main Gotham City villains a young, raw Batman will face–Deathstroke, Black Mask, Deadshot, Bane and The Joker have been revealed so far–as well as footage of the game’s new Remote Claw gadget and Crime Scene recreation feature. If you ask me the trailer squashes any concerns about the worthiness of an Arkham prequel chapter. Take a look and judge for yourself.

This week also saw the release of the first screenshots from the PlayStation Vita version of Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, Armature Studio’s handheld companion game also coming to Nintendo 3DS. As you can see (gallery below), the portable edition takes the form of a 2.5D action game, with Armature’s team of former Retro Studios developers imparting a clear Metroid influence.
