Battle vs. Chess, SouthPeak, TopWare and Gaijin Entertainment’s video game reinvention of the classic strategy board game, is slowly closing in on its retail launch date, which this week has been confirmed to be September 28th.
The PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 game brings the competitive strategy game of yore to gamers with traditional chess rules and strategies provided by the Fritz 11 chess engine, in addition to a number of modernized gaming twists to jazz the experience up a bit, including an array of modes such as Slasher, Duel, Puzzle, and even a full-featured Campaign comprised of 50+ scenarios to complete. A tutorial system will be in place for chess newbies, and real-time battle animations promise to bring chess warfare to life like never before.
Battle vs. Chess will retail for $40 on PS3 and Xbox 360. PC gamers, as usual, will get the game at the far cheaper price of $20. DS, PSP and Wii versions are also supposed to be in development, but SouthPeak has not yet provided release dates for those.
