Behind the Scenes: Spider-Man: Web of Shadows’ Combat

The swinging mechanics in the past few Spider-Man titles have really carried the gameplay. If it weren’t so cool swinging around, none of them would’ve even been worth playing, I don’t think. Combat in particular has been a serious problem for a while now, and that’s one of the main gameplay components Shaba Games is aiming to jazz up with the next Spidey game, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. Going by what they show in this behind the scenes documentary regarding the combat system, I’d say they are on the right track. But combat in these types of games always looks great just watching it, the real test will be how it actually controls, and we won’t know the answer to that question until this fall.
