Bethesda, Zombie Team Up for Rogue Warrior

It took me a few days to digest this fully (well, I finally got around to reading this in the ton of messages I get on a daily basis) and… I’m excited. I was a HUGE fan of Bethesda’s Terminator games on the PC and Zombie has done some great, underrated military shooters both tactical (Spec Ops series) and cinematic (Shadow Ops: Red Mercury), so it’ll be intriguing to see where this multiplatform (PC, PS3 and Xbox 360) shooter goes as it develops.

Nice water, right?

According to the company line, the game is a story-driven shooter based on the best-sellling book series by Richard (Dick) Marcinko, former U.S. Navy SEAL and founder of both SEAL Team Six and Red Cell. The game will feature team-based tactical combat and uses Unreal 3 streaming technology to create massive contiguous levels. This means a game world that allows players to choose how they tackle missions in both single and multiplayer modes. Zombie plans some intriguing features here, such as an up to four-player co-op mode where players can hop in or out at will without dropping to a menu and multiplayer maps created using tiles that are selected by each team for over 200 day/night maps.

As the game isn’t scheduled to hit stores until next fall, I’ll have plenty of time to bug my pal Mark Long at Zombie about the game and hopefully, that ZPC sequel I’m hoping they’re thinking of working on at some point. Anyway, here’e one more screen to peek at:
