‘Twas a pretty exciting day of news from Gamescom. The PlayStation 4 has an official launch date. The PlayStation Vita has had its price dropped. The Xbox One’s launch lineup has been confirmed. Great stuff all around.
But wait, there’s more big news: Borderlands 2 is coming to PS Vita!
Divekick developer Iron Galaxy Studios is collaborating with 2K Games, Gearbox Software and Sony Computer Entertainment (Sony will be publishing the game, not 2K) to make Borderlands 2 on Vita a reality. All of the first-person shooting and looting fun and four-player cooperative action of the PC and console experience will be present in the Vita translation, in addition to new optimizations that will take advantage of the system’s unique hardware features.
2K and Sony aren’t saying much else at the moment, but have at least confirmed that Borderlands 2‘s date with the Vita will go down in 2014. Questions about DLC, cross-save support, cross-platform co-op and any other possible interactions with the PS3 version will be answered in due time.
