Capcom used last night’s PlayStation 4 gala to introduce two things: the company’s next-gen engine, codenamed “Panta Rhei,” and a game being developed on that engine for PS4 with the working title of Deep Down. Capcom’s not giving anything specific away, but clearly the game is some form of medieval/fantasy action/role-playing dungeon diver.
Hmmm… could this be a next-gen Dragon’s Dogma? Sounds plausible enough, though the presentation seemed to indicate that this is a new IP. We’ll have to wait for some more clarification on that.
As for the trailer, I’m calling bullshit on it being actual gameplay as it seems to be attempting to represent with the visible inventory. The UI doesn’t look connected to what’s on the screen at all and the way the camera moves is not indicative of a real-time playable experience. But boy, it sure is pretty. If the final product comes even remotely close to this target, Capcom will surely have another hit on its hands.
