Blue Toad Murder Files – VGBlogger.com http://www.vgblogger.com Celebrating geek culture -- Books, Gadgets, Video Games & More! Already available in Europe since right before Christmas, Relentless Software’s PlayStation Move patch for Blue Toad Murder Files has gone live in the US as of Thursday. Now, if you have a Move wand, you can solve tricky logic puzzles and finger the villain in the episodic PSN adventure series easier than ever before.

Keep in mind that Blue Toad Murder Files is no collection of mini-games, so don’t expect any waggle gimmickry from this patch. Instead, the Move simply grants you the power of ‘point, click and drag’ control over the game’s selection cursor, so in effect it’s like playing with a PC mouse. Having played through a handful of puzzles myself to test it out, I already prefer it to the regular DualShock. The cursor speed is slower than I would like, and as far as I can tell there isn’t an option in the calibration process to adjust the speed/sensitivity. But regardless, in this type of game it feels more natural pointing at the screen to drag puzzles pieces into place and select answers.

So if you have a Move and need something new to play, give Blue Toad Murder Files a look. And if you already own the series, go back and replay it, this time with a glowy motion controller in hand!

Blue Toad Murder Files Coming to PC, Sharpish! http://www.vgblogger.com/blue-toad-murder-files-coming-to-pc-sharpish/7603/ Fri, 22 Oct 2010 00:08:47 +0000 http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=7603 BlueToadMurderFilesPC.jpg

Relentless Software’s self-published ‘Whodunnit’ puzzle/adventure game, Blue Toad Murder Files: The Mysteries of Little Riddle, previously released in episodic format exclusively for PS3 via PSN download, is now on tap for a PC release.

All six episodes are being bundled together and released globally on November 24th priced at £14.99 / $19.99 (the complete set on PS3 is currently £17.99 / $26.99), and you’ll be able to grab it directly from the Blue Toad Murder Files website or your favorite digital distribution outlet.

For PC gamers new to Blue Toad Murder Files (or PS3 gamers who didn’t bother to play it), it is a whimsical murder mystery game built around solving tricky logic puzzles and paying attention to every little detail in order to correctly finger the guilty party at the end of each episode and ultimately uncover the villain of the whole storyline. The game is thick with British humor and verbiage, which is hilarious and also a tad confusing at the same time, and voice actor Tom Dussek does a bang-up job voicing the game’s entire cast of charming, eclectic characters, highlighted by his performance as the narrator.

The game consists of six episodes, each one taking one to two hours to complete depending on how sharp you are with logic puzzles. There are more than 90 puzzles in all, and you can solve them all by your lonesome or have three other players join in and compete against one another to solve the mystery.

It really is a great game overall, and for my money it even tops Telltale’s episodic adventure romps in terms of humor and lighthearted appeal. Highly recommended!
