After what seems like a long time coming, THQ’s Wii exclusive Deadly Creatures finally has an official street date. It’s not far off either, less than a month away in fact as it’s scheduled to ship February 9th. 18 new screenshots have been released to celebrate the occasion, and as you can see in the gallery below the game is looking better than ever.

Deadly Creatures Gets Dennis Hopper’s Seal of Approval

“Gamers are really going to love Deadly Creatures.”

That’s according to Dennis Hopper in this BTS interview THQ shot during the famed actor’s voice over session for Deadly Creatures — he and Billy Bob Thornton were both just announced as the game’s voice over stars, in case you hadn’t heard. Not sure I put much stock in his statement of approval since I highly doubt he knows a whole lot about gaming, but it appears he did a lot of great VO work and the game already looked incredibly cool, so it’s all good.

Here’s a bit of an odd story to start the week off with. Award-winning Hollywood actors Billy Bob Thornton and Dennis Hopper have signed on with THQ to voice characters in the upcoming Wii exclusive Deadly Creatures, which is currently due out in February. What’s odd is that the two actors will voice human characters in the game, not the game’s starring scorpion and tarantula. Sure, talking scorpions and tarantulas would’ve been weird, but nothing’s too far fetched for a videogame. I didn’t even realize Deadly Creatures was going to have human characters in it. If they’re voiced by two noteworthy actors like Thornton and Hopper there definitely has to be a deeper story going on than what’s been shown thus far. Interesting, very interesting…

“What surprised me about Deadly Creatures is how it looks…like watching a movie,” said Billy Bob Thornton. “The scorpion and tarantula are like two actors meeting up for a gun fight.”

“Gamers are really going to love Deadly Creatures,” added Dennis Hopper.

Call me a sissy if you want to, but I’m deathly afraid of spiders. My fear goes so deep that just watching a virtual Tarantula creep about in this new Deadly Creatures trailer gives me the willies. Mommy, can you come kill this spider for me!?
