In the first video you’ll see how the Kollector’s Edition’s cover art came together, then in the second you’ll learn how John Tobias was lured back to work on the pack-in comic book after over nine years away from the franchise he helped created.

An official ship date has been set for Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. Midway has confirmed that its PS3 and Xbox 360 fighting game will ship in North America on November 16th, followed closely by a November 21st European launch. A special Kollector’s Edition package has also been unveiled. Pictured above, the Kollector’s Edition will be available for both platforms and feature special box art packaging including an exclusive removable print hand painted by comic artist Alex Ross, a 16-page comic book illustrated by MK co-creator John Tobias, and bonus “Making of…” video content. An official price wasn’t given in Midway’s announcement, but according to retail sites like GameStop and Amazon it’ll only cost $10 more than the standard edition (that’s $70).

[E3 2008] Mortal Kombat VS. DC Universe Trailer http://www.vgblogger.com/e3-2008-mortal-kombat-vs-dc-universe-trailer/3375/ Sat, 12 Jul 2008 23:04:08 +0000 http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=3375 I like the idea behind Mortal Kombat VS. DC Universe and graphically it looks quite slick, but sorry, I just can’t get into Mortal Kombat anymore. The series’ fighting mechanics haven’t been any good in a long while, and just looking at the game in action you can tell that the pace of the combat is sluggish. Other than Batman I’ve never been into the DC universe either. Always been much more of a Marvel guy.

Universes Collide: Mortal Kombat, DC Comics Ready for Battle http://www.vgblogger.com/universes-collide-mortal-kombat-dc-comics-ready-for-battle/2920/ http://www.vgblogger.com/universes-collide-mortal-kombat-dc-comics-ready-for-battle/2920/#comments Mon, 21 Apr 2008 18:54:54 +0000 http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=2920 mk_dc_art_GD08.jpg

Now there have been numerous crossover fighting games, so it’s never too surprising when a new once gets announced, but a Mortal Kombat versus DC Comics crossover has never, ever crossed my mind so when initial reports of such a title began surfacing Friday into the weekend I just couldn’t believe it. Turns out, though, that there is in fact such a game in development, as Midway today came out with confirmation of the project officially titled Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.

The title is due out this fall for PS3 and Xbox 360 and will see MK icons like Scorpion and Sub Zero doing battle with DC Comics superheros like Batman and Superman. Supposedly, from reports I read over the weekend the game won’t have fatalities due to Warner Bros. and DC being reluctant to have their iconic characters mutilated like that. So yeah, an MK game without fatalities is like a platformer without platforms, it just doesn’t sound right. But who knows, the MK franchise has been stuck in a rut for years now I think, so maybe a drastic change like this will breathe new life into it. At least the style looks cool, as you can see in the following debut teaser trailer.
