Just in case you need to be reminded of Okami‘s elegant, celestial beauty, here’s a 5-minute gameplay clip and some freshly inked screenshots from the forthcoming HD PlayStation 3 re-release. See, I told you it was gorgeous.

Okami looked lovely on the PS2. It was even lovelier when it re-released on the Wii. Now it’s been repainted in HD for PlayStation 3, and yep, it’s just about the prettiest game you’re ever going to lay eyes on. It’s amazing how much more those vibrant colors and canvas textures pop with a little high-definition upscaling.

Another Capcom Wii favorite is getting the PlayStation 3 HD with PlayStation Move remake treatment, joining the soon-to-be-released Resident Evil: Chronicles HD Collection. This time, it’s Okami, which first rose to cult fame on PS2 before getting an improved motion control update for the Wii.
Okami HD will be out this fall as a $19.99 digital download over the PlayStation Network in North America and Europe. (Boo, no retail release, but the game will have a full trophy list including a Platinum.)
Players will be able to take control of Amaterasu the old fashioned way using a DualShock or pull out their PlayStation Moves to more naturally paint the screen with the Celestial Brush. The refreshed 16:9 HD graphics look absolutely stunning (see the trailer at the bottom).

Aside from soundtracks, my favorite pre-order swag items are game-themed styli for the Nintendo DS. Unlike most pre-order bonuses, they are both useful and collectible. So for me, Okamiden‘s pre-order bonus is absolutely irresistible.
Capcom and GameStop are working together to give pre-purchasers of the DS action/adventure game, officially due out on North American store shelves on March 15th, a stylus in the shape of the celestial paintbrush and a screen cleaner featuring the adorable Chibiterasu and the young swordsman who rides little Chibi, Kuni. These reservation prizes are extremely limited, however, as there will only be enough to satisfy the first 20,000 customers.

Already one of the PS2’s all time greatest games, Okami is now ready to capture the hearts and minds of (hopefully) a much larger audience with Capcom today shipping the enhanced Wii port off to retailers nationwide. Developed at Ready At Dawn Studios, Okami Wii showcases newfangled motion controls for painting with the Celestial Brush and even prettier art thanks to support for 480p widescreen. Best of all, it retails for only $39.99! If you never got it for PS2, whatever you do, do not miss out on this brilliant game again.

The first thing that has and always will stand out about Okami is it’s unbelievably beautiful art design. Simply put, no game can match the elegant, distinctive, eye-popping visual stylings of Capcom’s modern-day gaming classic. As sort of a thank you gesture to all the diehard Okami fans and in anticipation of the forthcoming Wii version — shipping April 15th — Capcom has launched Okamiart.com, a new website dedicated to sharing and celebrating the game’s artistic beauty.
Currently, the site has a gallery of thousands upon thousands of original illustrations to thumb through, a stunning collection of wallpapers to download and decorate your desktop with, and even a fan art section for adoring Okami faithful to submit their own artistic compositions for a chance to be showcased (there are some fan art contests coming up too). If flipping through galleries on a web page just isn’t enough, you’ll also find a link to purchase an official Okami art book Capcom has put together with Udon. It’ll be coming out in May for $39.99.
