Quake – VGBlogger.com http://www.vgblogger.com Celebrating geek culture -- Books, Gadgets, Video Games & More! Bethesda Softworks has partnered up with collectible statue and figurine manufacturer Symbiote Studios to begin production of a new line of vinyl toys based on BethSoft’s powerhouse franchise stable. That means you will soon be able to adorn your desk, shelf or game room display with cutesy figurines modeled after characters from Doom, Dishonored, The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Quake.

The first major release will be the Dragonborn figure pictured up top, obviously inspired by the hero of Skyrim. That cute little dragon slayer is 3″ tall, has articulation in his arms and head, and comes armed to the teeth with a removable helmet and dual-wieldable sword and axe weapon accessories. Pre-orders are available now at www.symbiotestudios.com or at the company’s QuakeCon booth starting tomorrow, with the price tag set at $9.99 and the expected ship date scheduled for August 22nd.

Anyone attending QuakeCon this week who ordered a pre-registration pack will receive another special surprise in their swag bag: an exclusive QuakeCon vinyl mascot toy. It kinda looks like the Pillsbury Doughboy with nothing but a giant ‘Q’ for a face.

Quake Arena Arcade Frags XBLA Next Week http://www.vgblogger.com/quake-arena-arcade-frags-xbla-next-week/7983/ Sat, 11 Dec 2010 03:21:14 +0000 http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=7983 QuakeArenaArcade.jpg

Fun fraggin’ times are only a few days away for Xbox 360 owners, as Quake Arena Arcade, an updated spin on the old PC FPS hit Quake III: Arena, has finally been confirmed for Xbox Live Arcade release after years of development.

Quake Arena Arcade, coming to XBLA next Wednesday, December 15 courtesy of id Software and Bethesda Softworks, will feature a brand new single player campaign, HD and Widescreen support for enhanced graphics and presentation, and 16-player competitive online play with six match types, 30 classic Quake maps and 12 all-new maps exclusive to Xbox 360. Pricing has not yet been announced, but I would expect it to fall within the standard XBLA pricing range of 800-1,200 MS Points ($10-15).

I’m currently working on a downloadable game holiday buyer’s guide, and will have a review code coming in from BethSoft soon. So check back next week for my thoughts on Quake Arena Arcade and the rest of my top downloadable game picks. Busy weekend ahead for me!
