Raven Software’s upcoming time-shifting FPS Singularity just got a bit more attractive if you’re an Xbox 360 owner. If you decide to buy the game when it ships on June 29, you’ll get an exclusive mail-in offer to redeem for a free copy of Radical Entertainment’s open-world smash-fest Prototype.

It’s curious that this deal only applies to the Xbox 360 version, and if you want to read into things, you could consider this a sign that Singularity might not be of the highest quality — any time a publisher (Activision in particular) tosses in a free game with a new game there must be a reason. Or you can look at it as getting two games for the price of one and be happy. You choose!

Singularity Warps Into 2010 http://www.vgblogger.com/singularity-warps-into-2010/4929/ http://www.vgblogger.com/singularity-warps-into-2010/4929/#comments Wed, 08 Jul 2009 18:40:02 +0000 http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=4929 SingularityDelayed.jpg

Earlier this year when Raven Software’s new FPS IP Singularity was unveiled, I mentioned that the game “could be really frickin’ cool if Raven nails the concept properly (and Activision doesn’t rush the dev cycle along).” As it turns out, Activision won’t be rushing this title out the door, with confirmation coming down today that the telekinetic, time-warping PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 shooter, previously scheduled for release this fall, has been pushed to March 2010. And the reasoning is right on point:

“The level of excitement for Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 coming out of E3 well exceeded our expectations and therefore we have decided to move Raven’s upcoming sci-fi first person action title, Singularity, from 2009 to Q1 2010. We believe that the March quarter will provide a better opportunity to establish the new cutting-edge action IP as a “must-have” title and clears the way for Modern Warfare 2 to dominate this holiday season.”

Releasing an unknown commodity like Singularity in the thick of the fall/holiday rush and thrusting it into a losing fight for consumer dollars against the likes of Modern Warfare 2 would’ve spelled sales doom for the title, me thinks. Smart move, Activision!

Singularity Media Blowout: Reveal Trailer and 50+ New Screens http://www.vgblogger.com/singularity-media-blowout-reveal-trailer-and-50-new-screens/4445/ http://www.vgblogger.com/singularity-media-blowout-reveal-trailer-and-50-new-screens/4445/#comments Mon, 23 Feb 2009 17:04:57 +0000 http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=4445 Activision and Raven Software pull the curtain back on their upcoming telekinetic sci-fi FPS Singularity today with the official reveal trailer and a heaping mass of screenshots. Clearly seems to be an amalgamation of ideas from games like Psi-Ops, TimeShift, Half-Life 2 and Portal, which could be really frickin’ cool if Raven nails the concept properly (and Activision doesn’t rush the dev cycle along).
