Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground Ollies Onto Store Shelves

The battle against EA’s Skate for skateboarding game supremacy can now officially begin, as Activision has shipped Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground to retailers nationwide. Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground is available now on the PS3 and Xbox 360 for $59.99, the Wii for $49.99, the PS2 for $39.99 and the DS for $29.99 (damn, Activision sure hit every price point possible with this title).

“With Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground, we are giving gamers the chance to express their personal style like never before,” said Joel Jewett, president, Neversoft Entertainment. “They can do everything from skating the way they want, and producing their own classic videos, all the way to pulling-off the newest Nail the Trick maneuvers and tricking out their skate lounge to hang-out with friends.”

Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground 360 Demo Now Live, PS3 Demo Coming Tomorrow

Timed to meet this week’s full release of Skate, coincidentally enough (or maybe not so much…), the demo version of Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground is now available on the Xbox Live Marketplace for the 360 and is coming to the PS3 in tomorrow’s regularly scheduled PlayStation Store update, providing a glimpse at the game’s new gameplay mechanics and features within the city of Philadelphia so you can begin determining which skating game will earn your hard earned dollar. Playing the demo will also get you a special code for entry in a contest at the game’s official site in which one grand prize winner will bag a trip for two to the 2007 Action Sports Awards in LA (35 sweet prize packs are up for grabs too- I’d actually rather win one of the prize packs over the grand prize myself…).

Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground is due out on October 16th for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2 and DS. I now leave you with an updated gallery of new screenshots to peruse.
