A lot of studios fail at Kickstarter, but Harebrained Schemes has found whatever secret sauce is required to produce one astonishingly successful crowdfunding project after another.
The latest success story in the Shadowrun Returns Kickstarter saga is Hong Kong, which officially closed this week with backer pledges to the tune of $1,204,726. The opening funding goal was a measly $100,000, so they raised 12 times the original target. That’s a whole lotta stretch goals met, folks.
Stretch goals galore is right. The $1.2 million will fund 13 extra features, including additional characters and side missions, multiple endings, and–the big daddy of them all–a bonus mini-campaign containing 4-5 more hours of story and gameplay set after the main Hong Kong campaign.
The crazy thing is, Harebrained Schemes will continue to pile up backer cash separate from Kickstarter in a Second Chance funding campaign until March 13th. If you somehow missed out on contributing to the $1.2 million, this extended campaign will give you the chance to score some of the sweet backer rewards.
