Come Visit Middle-earth and Spend 8 Minutes in the Shadow of Mordor

I’m still iffy about how faithfully it represents the Lord of the Rings universe, but on its own merits as a game Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is shaping up to be way better than previously expected. Watching the new 8-minute gameplay walkthrough, my sensors pick up influences from the Batman Arkham games–especially as it relates to the flow of combat–as well as Assassin’s Creed in the way the character traverses the open world environments.

At the heart of the game is the Nemesis System, an innovative feature that creates a unique personal history for every player, including enemies with distinct personalities, who remember previous encounters and adapt accordingly as the story progresses. Pretty cool stuff. And dear lord those facial animations are incredible!
