Crysis Warhead Ultra Optimized PC Coming Soon

Crytek’s main objective with Crysis Warhead — beyond making another kick-ass FPS, of course — was to better optimize CryENGINE 2 and prove to the world that the game’s unbelievable technical fidelity doesn’t require some gajillion-dollar super computer to run at high spec. Proving its point, Crytek has teamed up with NVIDIA and Ultra PC to construct the Ultra Optimized PC, a beastly pre-built gaming rig designed to squeeze premium performance out of Crysis Warhead without breaking the bank. Coming soon to TigerDirect.com for a mere $700, the Ultra Optimized PC runs on a G31 mATX motherboard, NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT 512MB PCle graphics card, Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 2.66GHz 3M processor, 2GB DDR2 800MHz PC6400 memory, 250GB 7200 RPM 3G SATA II hard drive, and a 500 watt power supply, all housed within a black Ultra X-Blaster tower. All told, it’s a system promising to run Crysis Warhead at 30 fps on the “Gamer” visual setting (I take it that’s the highest setting?). Very impressive.

“When we started developing Crysis Warhead, we gave the team at Crytek Hungary the challenge of optimizing CryENGINE 2 to improve performance from Warhead without sacrificing any of the visual fidelity we pushed for in Crysis,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek. “We’re excited that we are going to be able to open up the Crysis universe to more gamers while also giving gamers who played the original game an even better experience this time around.”

“As gamers know, the GPU is the most important component for any gaming system,” said Ujesh Desai, general manager of desktop GeForce products at NVIDIA. “We’ve worked closely with Crytek to ensure that Crysis Warhead runs smoothly across a broad spectrum of GeForce solutions. The Ultra Optimized PC shows that gamers will have a great Crysis experience at an affordable price if they optimize their PC with the right GPU/CPU combination.”

Crysis Warhead ships next week on September 16th. No word yet on when the Ultra Optimized PC will go on sale, though, but you can sign up for email availability alerts at the TigerDirect page linked to above.
