I know many of you have been waiting on this day to finally come. Capcom has officially confirmed Dead Rising 2 today. It’s in development for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 at Canadian dev studio Blue Castle Games, with help from members of the original game’s dev team and Capcom’s Keiji Inafune, who is serving as Dead Rising 2‘s Producer.

Set a few years after the events of the first game, Dead Rising 2 promises to “take the franchise to a new level of zombie-killing fun with tens of thousands of zombies, the all new gambling paradise of Fortune City to explore and conquer plus a host of new in-game objects that can all be used as deadly weapons to stave off the zombie assault.”

No other details or word of a projected release date yet, but here are five first-look screenshots to tide you over until Capcom’s ready to share more info about the game. As you can see, there appears to be a new pretty-boy star character taking over for the original’s protagonist Frank West.
