Deep Silver Announces a New Free-to-Play Dead Island

DeadIslandEpidemic

Dead Island: Epidemic is the next chapter in the popular series from Deep Silver and Techland, but it’s not taking the regular form of an open-world first-person RPG shooter like the two previous installments.

Nope, Epidemic is a free-to-play PC MOBA–cutely re-dubbed as a ZOMBA (Zombie Online Multiplayer Battle Arena)–in which players will be divided into three teams and proceed to fight against one another for survival in battles featuring “all the trademark elements that are part of a Dead Island experience.”

I’m assuming that means things like weapon modding and character class progression, but I honestly have no clue. Deep Silver isn’t dishing out any more information about the game until Gamescom rolls around later this month. I can’t even tell you if Techland is involved with the project or if another developer is working on it.

But there’s a new Dead Island on the way and it’s a free-to-play MOBA. Now you know. Back with more details as they’re announced.
