Disney Universe Introduces The Lion King World

Suit up as Simba, Pumbaa, Timon, Rafiki and Scar and go on a family co-op adventure in Disney Universe‘s latest magical world reveal, The Lion King.

From Pride Rock to the Elephant Graveyard, The Lion King world will have players exploring iconic African savanna locales from the classic animated film as some of their favorite characters. While romping through the Pride Lands, players will need to use seeds and water bombs to grow plants into platforms and ride on duck vehicles to cross lava streams. Disney Universe‘s Lion King adventure will then cap off with an epic showdown against Scar.

“’The Lion King’ was an animated masterpiece, and certainly one of Disney’s most treasured films,” said Adam Sussman, senior vice president of publishing, Disney Interactive Media Group. “Fans of all ages will surely enjoy the exploration and adventures that await them in this Disney Universe environment, where they’ll have a chance to revisit some of their favorite scenes and suit up as characters from the movie.”

The timing of The Lion King world unveil is hardly a coincidence. The film is set to make its triumphant return to theaters on Sept. 16 — in 3D to boot — and after that on October 4th an HD ‘Diamond Edition’ will be released on Blu-ray. Clearly, Disney is trying to get some extra buzz building toward the theatrical re-release, in addition to getting Disney gamers frothing at the mouth in even more anticipation for the game.

Speaking of which, Disney Universe is scheduled for a fall release on Mac/PC, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360.
