Thank the gaming gods for Square Enix! Seems like they are the only third-party publisher continuing to provide strong support for PSP game development, and thankfully that support will continue into next year with the next Star Ocean remake and then sometime in the middle of the year (summertime most likely) with the just-confirmed North American launch of Dissidia: Final Fantasy.

Dissidia: Final Fantasy, in case you hadn’t heard from all the hype in Japan already, is sort of an RPG/fighting game hybrid from the creators of the Kingdom Hearts series that brings together famous heroes and villains from Final Fantasy games past and present in what is essentially an ultimate work of fan service in celebration of the franchise’s illustrious 20th anniversary. If it turns out anything like Ehrgeiz I’ll be very pleased. I know that game didn’t get much critical acclaim, but I loved it and still have a copy in my collection that I revisit every now and then and still have good fun with.
