DrinkBox Serves Up Guacamelee! Launch Details

Guacamelee

DrinkBox Studios joins in on the PlayStation indie lovefest this week at GDC with exciting news regarding its own indie title. Guacamelee!, the lucha libre Metroidvania brawler inspired by Mexican folklore, is officially scheduled to launch April 9th on PSN, simultaneously for PS3 and Vita.

Cross-Buy will be available, which means an electronic payment of $14.99 will get you both versions for the price of one, with Cross-Save support so progress can be transferred back and forth between the two systems. Local co-op will also be available in the PS3 version, with a cool form of Cross-Play that will allow one player to use a DualShock 3 while the other plays from the Vita as a second controller.

We got a chance to interview DrinkBox’s co-founder and producer, Graham Smith, about Guacamelee! late last year. Read it. Now. Or I’ll be forced to lay the smackdown on that ass with a body slam or two. And there’s a piledriver with your name on it if you don’t watch the launch trailer.

Here’s a look at what the game was like in its Flash prototype stage as well, for a little perspective on how far the game has come since last year.
