Atari has announced its lineup for this year’s E3 today. The publisher will have four titles on hand, including Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (Wii, PS2), The Witcher (PC), Godzilla: Unleashed (Wii, DS), and Jenga (Wii, DS).
“Atari’s 2007 E3 roster showcases some of the most exciting titles from our diverse fall line-up – from the fan-favorite Dragon Ball Z series to the graphically stunning The Witcher,” said David Pierce, Chief Executive Officer, Atari, Inc. “We’re excited to participate in the new E3 Media & Business Summit and look forward to having media and business partners spend time with the Atari Team and our titles.”
I’m kind of surprised games like Dungeons & Dragons Tactics, Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer, and Alone In The Dark were left off the E3 roster, but hopefully more will surface on those soon as well.

I was disappointed – yet again – to see Atari continuing to drop the ball on the brand.
What a great company this name used to be, its current titles continue their lackluster crawl into oblivion with Infogrames at the helm steering this company to nowhere.
Why do we not see this company continuing to produce its line of hardware like its Flashback 2 console. Rumors abound across the web about Atari Flashback Portable or AFP, which seems to be headquartered out of atariage.com
Seems that Atari gets more interest in such console hardware then it does from its ill-timed and poorly released software titles.
What would be nice is to see the company make a complete 180, get away from the software and just go back to what Atari was all about in the first place – making gaming hardware, wake up Atari

well, making hardware and getting it to market successfully is far more expensive than making games, e3w. that and the fact that anything portable no matter how well-made, will be immediately compared to what nintendo is doing in terms of sales. they’re quite unstoppable on the portable front, so anything atari hits shelves with would most likely be buried at retail and (unfortunately), critically. remember, the lynx was far better than the game boy as a portable (and it had some incredible games), but it never came close to touching the gb’s market share.
While Atari’s lineup of games has definitely be down lately, going back to hardware would be complete suicide for them I think. There’s just too much competition out there right now for them to get a console or portable to market and actually have it sell.
Atari at least has The Witcher coming up soon, that’s a title I’ve been waiting on for a long time. Unfortunately, it’s probably not a game that’s going to be a huge sales hit.
well, the witcher might do well if it comes to console at some point. granted, this mean control changes over the PC version, but a wider amount of players will have access to it and that’s key to the game’s success, i’d say. still, the game already has a small core of dedicated followers (yup, i’m one of them too), so it’ll be intriguing to follow it all the way to retail and beyond…
