E3 2007: Silent Hill 5 Coming to 360, PS3

silenthill5_01.JPGIn addition to the PSP-bound Silent Hill Origins, It looks like Konami’s disturbing world and its even more twisted cast of creatures will make an appearance on next-gen systems as well. Scheduled for a 2008 release, Silent Hill 5 (working title) is set to scare up sales on both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

In the game, players will take on the role of Alex Shepherd, a war veteran returning home from an overseas tour of duty to investigate the mysterious disappearance of his younger brother, Joshua. His travels will lead him through the small, insular community of Shepherd’s Glen and eventually through the hauntingly empty streets of Silent Hill.

Konami is promising to deliver the series’ well-known tense atmosphere in this installment as well as an enhanced combat system to deal with the bestiary or bizarre monsters. In addition, a challenging mix puzzles should stump the most cerebral gamer as they work through this latest adventure. Famed composer Akira Yamaoka is back as well, and as you can see from these two early screen shots, the look is definitely there. We’ll have more on Silent Hill 5 as news becomes available.
