Lords of Shadow is a gothic action/adventure game developed by Mercury Steam. It was first announced at last year’s E3, and when it was unveiled most everyone thought it looked an awful lot like a Castlevania game, even though at the time it wasn’t planned to be one.
But now a year later, for whatever reason, Konami has decided to give it the Castlevania seal of approval. Maybe because the game is shaping up so well they figured this was a great chance to finally make a 3D Castlevania game that, you know, doesn’t suck. Best part is, Hideo Kojima and his crew at Kojima Productions is now overseeing the project, guiding Mercury Steam along to ensure the game kicks all kinds of ass. Konami even has a strong voice cast lined up with the likes of Patrick Stewart, Robert Carlyle, Jason Isaacs and Natascha McElhone enriching the game with their acting talents. Clearly they are going all out on this one.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is due for release on PS3 and Xbox 360 next year. Feast your eyes on the new trailer and screenshots after this.
