Here are the two Project Natal videos that were shown during Microsoft’s E3 presser Monday afternoon. The first is the unveil trailer showing the basic mini-game usage of the device. The second is the astounding Milo tech demo presented by Peter Molyneux and Lionhead Studios. The technology on display in the Milo demo in particular is impressive and a bit frightening at the same time (if it really does work as advertised), but I’m still not seeing how any of this will hold any interest beyond tech demo shock and awe. It’s neat to watch, but in my own household would I really want to talk and make friends with a virtual character? No, no I wouldn’t.

Matt landed his first gig in the video game review business writing for the now-defunct website BonusStage.com. After the sad and untimely close of BonusStage, the former staff went on to found VGBlogger.com. After a short stint as US Site Manager for AceGamez, Matt assumed full ownership over VGBlogger, and to this day he is dedicated to making it one of the top video game blogs in all the blogosphere.
Matt is a fair-minded reviewer and lover of games of all platforms and types, big or small, hyped or niche, big-budget or indie. But that doesn't mean he will let poor games slide without a good thrashing when necessary!

It is only a nmatter of time until the Web comics lampoon how poorly this technology works in the real world … but it is great to see them working on this stuff!
Even though the technology is far more advanced, I’m not seeing how this impacts game design any more than Sony’s EyeToy from last generation, or even the PlayStation Eye for the PS3 (it can do object scanning and voice chat).

I guess some folks sat around a table and said “for the Wii they have GameCube ++ graphics, and gimmicks = profit … we need a better gimmick”
I hope they have more up their sleeve than a creepy friend simulator …
