E3 2014: Could Uncharted 4 be the End for Nathan Drake?

What could the subtitle to Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End tell us about the storyline for Nathan Drake’s next adventure? Will this be the end of the road for Nate? Could the thief’s end possibly be pointing to a tragic death for Sully (he’s a thief too, remember)? What other ideas do you have?

From the E3 2014 reveal trailer, we know at least two things. Nate is older, grayer, and more cut and cruised up than ever. (Look, his shirt isn’t even half-tucked!) And Uncharted 4 looks absolutely jaw-dropping. According to Naughty Dog, the footage was captured in engine at 1080p and Nate’s character model contains twice the polygons of Joel’s model from The Last of Us. That’s just crazy. If this were another studio I’d probably be skeptical, but given Naughty Dog’s immaculate track record I’m confident they’ll set another graphical benchmark. 2015 can’t come soon enough.

Also be sure to watch the following video interview with Naughty Dog’s Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann talking about the team’s work on Uncharted 4 and the design evolution from Uncharted to The Last of Us back to Uncharted.
