With more and more games pushing the boundaries of photo-realism, often preferring to go the dark, gritty and realistic route over vibrant colors and true artistic vision, El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron spits in the face of those who say Japanese games have run out of innovation and follows the beat of its own drum. The result is shaping up to be one gorgeous sleeper-hit-to-be; an action-adventure (with 2D and 3D platforming to boot!) game inspired by events in the Old Testament’s ‘Book of Enoch’ and developed by Sawaki Takeyasu, a key figure behind the creation of games like Devil May Cry and Okami.
UTV Ignition Games is publishing the PS3 and Xbox 360 game in North America, and today put a firm ship date on the title: July 26th.
