Today’s press release from Rising Star Games is already proclaiming that its newly announced title Lumo will be the “first great game of 2016.”
Sounds like a lot of hyperbole to me–not to mention a whole lot of hype and pressure to heap onto an indie production which just so happens to be the first game from Gareth Noyce’s fresh-out-of-Finland studio Triple Eh?–but nevertheless the game, whose title means ‘enchantment’ in Finnish, looks fun and charming as all get-out.
Inspired by 8-bit games like Head Over Heels, Knightlore, Alien 8, Chimera, and Solstice, Lumo is an arcade adventure game about a young wizard exploring a mysterious castle consisting of more than 400 isometric rooms full of deathtraps, platforming challenges, and both logic and physics puzzles.
Lumo, not to be confused with Rising Star’s recently released indie gem Lumini, is due for release in early 2016 on PC/Mac/Linux, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Xbox One. A playable build will be made available for the public to try for the first time during the Eurogamer Expo next weekend.
