Extra Life: Gaming for a Cause

With all the negative that seems to be focused on gaming due to the circus known as #GamerGate, it is nice to highlight a moment in time when gaming is being used in a positive light. This weekend gamers from all over are spending their time playing video games while also earning money for various Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through the organization Extra Life.

Back in 2008, the original intent of Extra Life was to play games for 24 hours straight while asking for donations to help a young lady battling leukemia. Now, Extra Life has become a bigger, more diverse cause where gamers are streaming their gameplay as a way of showing off their dedication to both gaming and helping raise funds for sick kids.

Friends of VGB have formed their own team, and the Casual Gamers are committed to raising a completely doable amount of funds this weekend.

If you get a chance this weekend drop by and watch their streams and donate to help them reach their goals!
