Packaged in a collectible “SteelBook” DVD case, Gears 2’s CE comes with a 48-page, hardbound art book titled “Beneath the Surface: An Inside Look at Gears of War 2,” the obligatory bonus DVD, a mock photograph, and a gold-plated Lancer Assault Rifle to use in-game during online play. Pretty good little bundle, but I don’t know, still seems fairly meager for a Collector’s Edition if you ask me. Indeed, this is a pretty weak Collector’s Edition. Maybe for an extra $10 it’d be worth it, but not $20. A 48-hour Live sub card as a CE bonus? That’s lame. A lot of standard 360 games come with free trial cards.

I have given Fable a rough time as being too short, dumbed-down and easy … but in my mind it was a solid 80% action-RPG, and I welcome the sequel. $20 more for a few pieces of junk … not for me, thanks. I’ll just take the game.
