That’s right all you console gamers (and the many PC gamers who can’t afford a beastly gaming rig), Ubisoft has confirmed today that, as had been rumored for a while now, Far Cry 2 is indeed in development for the PS3 and Xbox 360 for a “fiscal 2008-2009” release (which means it could come anywhere from April 1, 2008 to March 31, 2009), in addition to the already-announced PC version. How well the console versions will be able to replicate the immaculate graphical quality of the PC is anyone’s guess right now, but according to Ubisoft’s press release the March issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine (hits newsstands February 12th) will feature Far Cry 2 as its cover story, so I guess we’ll get a first glimpse at how the title is shaping up in console form then.

Now EA and Crytek need to do the same thing with Crysis already…
