At today’s Metal Gear 20th Anniversary event in Tokyo, Hideo Kojima finally gave us all what we’ve been craving for the past year or two now: the first in-game demo of actual gameplay from Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and as expected the game looks all types of bad ass. Feast your eyes on the impressive 15-minute demo video below (now in English).

FINALLY! Now THAT was impressive. Definitely gotta get me a PS3 for that…but it’ll be a while.
Yep, impressive stuff, definitely lived up to all the expectations that have built up waiting so long to see some actual live gameplay.
I love that it has all the different camera options. Has the RE4 view to make the third-person targeting easier, and even better since you can swap the view back and forth over both shoulders, then the option to play through the whole game FPS style if you want to. I wouldn’t want to, but just having the ability to enter FPS view and move around should make the gunplay so much easier over the stop-and-pop way you have to use it in the previous MGS games. All of Snake’s new animations are sweet too- all the different ways he can roll out of the way and sneak around.
My only minor concern is the AI- during the stealth sequences the enemies are damn near blind lol, Snake is right in plain sight and they don’t see him. I’m just hoping that they dumbed things down for the sake of presenting the demo.
