Free 8-bit Street Fighter X Mega Man Crossover Coming Soon to PC

In honor of this year’s 25th anniversary of Street Fighter and the same birthday milestone for Mega Man next year, Capcom is set to release a retro-flavored crossover title combining the company’s two iconic game franchises.

The fan-made Street Fighter X Mega Man (read the story about its creation here) takes the form of a traditional 8-bit Mega Man action-platformer, except the included eight levels and bosses are themed after classic Street Fighter characters, each with their unique move sets and special powers. As usual, once the Blue Bomber defeats his foes, which include characters like Blanka, Rose and Ryu, he absorbs their powers to use as he continues his gauntlet run through the game.

Best news of all, Capcom will be releasing the game as a free digital download at the Mega Man brand page at Capcom Unity. Of course that means you’ll have to play it on a PC as this game won’t appear on consoles–at least not right away, and if by some miracle it ever does I highly doubt it would be free.

Street Fighter X Mega Man goes live December 17th.
