Have you ever heard of a free pre-order bonus for a free-to-play game? I sure haven’t. The whole idea is one big contradiction. It would make sense for some sort of paid starter pack, but for a game that is entirely free to download, what is there to pre-order?
Warframe developer Digital Extremes has found a way to make such a crazy scheme work for the game’s PlayStation 4 version, launching on PSN next week, day and date with the console. By logging onto the Sony Entertainment Network or accessing the PS4 section of the PlayStation Store from your PS3, you can place a pre-order for Warframe. Really, you’re just adding the game to your account so it’s ready to download the moment you first boot up your shiny new PS4. Again, technically there is nothing to order because the game is free.
If you perform this reservation process by November 12th, an Ultimate Fan Pack pre-order bonus will be added to your Warframe account at no charge. This exclusive PS4 content pack features a PlayStation-branded Braton Rifle weapon skin, along with a wallet of 50 Platinum and 20,000 Credits to spend in the game’s marketplace.
So, if you have any plans to buy a PS4, there’s really no reason not to mosey on over to the PSN Store to pre-free-order the game to have the extra goodies waiting for you. But do that in another minute or so. First, there is a new Warframe teaser trailer that needs to be watched!
