Microsoft’s “Better With Kinect” marketing tagline will soon apply to fantasy role-playing epic The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Bethesda Softworks today announcing plans to bring Kinect Voice Command integration to the Xbox 360 platform via a free title update later this month.
The update will introduce over 200 voice commands, giving players the option to use their vocal cords to wail out Dragon Shouts, equip hotkey items, issue orders to Followers, cycle through the inventory and sort items by weight, name and value, save and load progress, navigate the quick map, choose skill trees by name, and so on.
Playing on the PS3 (which I’m assuming is the same as the Xbox 360 in terms of menu setup), I always found navigating the interface kinda slow and clumsy. These quick voice commands should make things much quicker and easier, as long as they work as advertised.
Watch this video for an introductory look at the Kinect Voice Command integration. A full list of commands will be made available soon.
