Excellent pre-order deal going on right now at GamersGate. Reserve your PC copy of Red Faction: Guerrilla through the digital download service and you’ll get both Red Faction and Red Faction II for free. That’s a three-game bundle that’ll only set you back $39.95 — can’t beat that deal! The original Red Faction still holds up as a pretty cool game all these years later. Red Faction II, on the other hand, is still the disappointment of the series, but it’s worth a play, especially for the low, low price of free!
Quick side note: I’ll have my review of the console RFG going up later today. THQ hasn’t put an official date on the PC version yet, but August 25th seems to be the consensus among retailers.

I already ordered mine and grabbed the downloads … I had a run-through of RF1 in progress on the Mac so I’ll likely set the PC version aside, but can play RF2 again when done.
Totally agree that RF2 was a major disappointment – it was like they had a decently fun 3 hour game ready, realized how short it was and tacked on another story.
The original Red Faction feels limited and not terribly great, but is still fun. Getting it installed on the newer Macs is a process … it will run once installed, but the installer isn’t meant for either the Unix-based OS X or the newer Intel-based hardware …
From strictly a console perspective, the first Red Faction was very impressive for its time on the PS2. It’s one of those games that I like to point out when Halo gets all its praise for being the “first great console FPS.” Red Faction came out before it and is a better game, if you ask me. Back in 2001, the whole Geo-Mod thing was pretty ground-breaking.
