GameStop Clarifies Wii Rain Check Program

Seems Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime didn’t have all the facts straight in his conference call last week regarding the Wii rain check program that GameStop will be running. GameStop has issued its official press release on the subject and there are some significant new details to take into account. Most importantly, the Holiday Wii Reservation Program, as it’s officially called, will only be taking place this Friday, December 21 at all GameStop and EB Games stores in the US (including Puerto Rico and Hawaii), not the 20th and 21st as had been originally stated. So if you want to secure a Wii for January, you’ll only have one day to do it now.

Those who purchase one of the full-priced $249.99 reservations will receive a special, custom-designed DVD case (pictured below) containing a gift certificate confirming the reservation. Customers with a reservation will then be phoned when their Wii comes in stock and have until January 25th to pick it up. Each store location will have limited reservations available, obviously, and thusly reservations will be limited to one per household.
