It seems as if Epic’s Gears of War is proving to be everything Microsoft hoped for and more. Sandvine, an independent third party that monitors trends across broadband networks, found that Xbox Live usage increased 80% during the week of November 7th to the 14th. This shouldn’t be surprising, considering that 6 games launched for the 360 on 11/7 including Gears of War, which went to sell over 1 million copies within its launch week. Also, if you recall November 12 was dubbed “Emergence Day” where many people played for that 24 hour period trying to win prizes by making it to the top of the rankings.
So to all those people that played GoW that week, thanks for clogging my internets.
Call of Duty 3 I’m sure helped quite a bit with that boost as well, as it’s multiplayer is pretty popular even though it’s nothing really that new or original at all. But hey, GoW really isn’t either…
I love Jon Stewart…
