And what is the benefit for the consumer, anyway?

For the PSP I know there was a feeling that rather than optimizing the GTA games for PSP they were developing with PS2 in mind and then just putting them out for PSP first to grab more publicity / sales than a cut-down PS2 version would otherwise have gotten.

Fact of the matter is you simply can’t expect any third-party game to be 100% exclusive anymore.

I know sales have continued along … but still not at a pace that would make it even compare with the previous PSP games!

It will be interesting to track this – I haven’t found that DS owners are as touchy about exclusives as other consoles … including how upset PSP users have gotten about their stuff either being PS2 ports or quickly ported to PS2.
