Grand Theft Auto Online Launches October 1st

Today’s the day GTA fans have been waiting for: It’s the official gameplay reveal for Grand Theft Auto Online!

Although the online game uses the same engine and will be accessible for free with all retail copies of Grand Theft Auto V, Rockstar is developing Grand Theft Auto Online into its own experience, not merely a multiplayer aside to GTA 5. The divide between the two experiences is further expressed by the release date: Grand Theft Auto V launches September 17th, but Grand Theft Auto Online won’t be ready to play until October 1st.

Concerning the game itself, Grand Theft Auto Online looks like familiar GTA crime spree madness, only with upwards of 16 players freely cruising the persistent open world together. There will be traditional competitive play modes as well as mission-based objectives for cooperative play, in addition to in-depth character progression and customization opportunities and even a content creator.
