Guild Wars: Eye of the North, the first true expansion to the hit subscription fee-free MMORPG Guild Wars, has been given an official release date this week, with NCsoft and ArenaNet announcing that the game’s public launch is now set for August 31. The expansion will be available at retail and through the NCsoft store for $39.99.
“Guild Wars has one of the most committed and loyal player bases I’ve ever seen, and Guild Wars: Eye of the North is our way of delivering prized content to veteran players and creating a link to the future of Guild Wars,” said Jeff Strain, co-founder of ArenaNet.
The Eye of the North expansion continues where the original Guild Wars campaign left off, opening up new areas of the continent of Tyria for further exploration. Features contained within the expansion will include 18 multi-level dungeons, 150 new skills, 10 new heroes, 40 new armor sets, a vast array of new items, weapons and titles, and an innovative Hall of Monuments that will enable players to carry on their accomplishments to the upcoming sequel Guild Wars 2.
we’re 1 step closer to GW2 🙂
I’ll say that when GW2 hits, I’ll definitely be picking up a copy for the times when I won’t have anything to do on Warhammer or WoW. I mean, it’s no monthly subscription with a higher level cap than 20, so it’ll be worth it just to have it there! lol
I really wish they’d get rid of the streaming content update system though (same goes for Vanguard). It’s fine for one PC, but hell on 32 of them. = /
